Mel’s somatic training is rooted in direct, applied experience. Their work includes over 150 hours of hands-on somatic practice through direct client sessions, immersive in-person clinical intensives, and ongoing study.
This training includes in-person, supervised clinical intensives with master somatic therapists, during which real-time nervous system work was practiced and refined in a relational setting. In addition to group training, Mel has engaged in one-on-one mentorship, allowing for deeper clinical attunement and individualized development.
This foundation supports the ability to track the nervous system moment to moment, working with what is actually unfolding in the body rather than relying solely on learned techniques. Sessions are responsive, grounded, and attuned, allowing for a deeper level of presence, safety, and integration.
Mel’s work is rooted in the understanding that healing is not only cognitive, but embodied. By working with the body directly, clients are supported in shifting patterns that may not be accessible through insight alone.
Mel R
Founder, Somatic Life Force • Somatic & Intuitive Healing Practitioner
Mel is a certified Somatic Therapist in the Transformative Touch modality who supports clients in regulating the nervous system, releasing stored stress, and reconnecting with their inner wisdom. Their work blends body-based practices such as felt-sense tracking, breath, and micro-movement with intuitive insight and spiritually grounded awareness.
Mel holds a Bachelor of Science and a Bachelor of Arts in Clinical Psychology, and is currently pursuing a Master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling. They bring a trauma-informed, relational lens to their work and move beyond conventional Western-only models of mental health by integrating ancestral wisdom, collective healing practices, and an understanding of how systems such as racism, patriarchy, and colonization shape emotional and psychological well-being. While they value research and evidence, their work honors both science and lived experience.
As a person of color who has lived across multiple continents, Mel brings a deeply cross-cultural perspective and a natural ability to attune to diverse lived experiences. Their presence is grounded, perceptive, and relational, creating a space where clients feel seen, understood, and supported in their full humanity.
Mel’s signature Reflector Profile, as a Human Design Reflector representing approximately 1% of the population, offers a unique capacity to reflect patterns with clarity and precision. This intuitive mirroring supports clients in gaining deeper insight, re-patterning beliefs, and making aligned, grounded choices.
Mel’s approach is also informed by Adlerian and Gestalt principles, which center on meaning, belonging, present-moment awareness, and the understanding that behavior is purposeful and shaped by early experiences, relational dynamics, and one’s environment. Through a Gestalt lens, attention is brought to how thoughts, emotions, and bodily experiences emerge in the here and now, fostering greater self-awareness and authenticity. When integrated with somatic work, this creates a pathway for healing where insight and embodiment work together, supporting more grounded, connected, and sustainable transformation.
